Aerial surveys involve the use of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), or drone, to capture aerial images of the site. This technique is used for producing 2D orthomosaic aerial imagery, which can capture crop marks and/or parch marks on a site. Aerial surveys can be used as part of the evaluation process.
An aerial survey can also be used to produce a 3D photogrammetric model (DEM) [link] of the landscape, a technique useful for accurately mapping earthworks.
Acer Archaeology can undertake the survey and produce imagery, plans and reports for planning purposes or for community and heritage groups.
