A Watching Brief is a programme of work which is undertaken whilst the groundworks for your project are underway. An archaeologist is present on site to monitor the ground-breaking activity.
This type of archaeological mitigation is usually required on a site which has demonstrated some archaeological potential, but not enough to warrant a full excavation. It is generally applied as a planning condition to developments of smaller scale or which are in areas with limited potential for archaeological remains.
If archaeological deposits are encountered, these are often dealt with in a timely fashion, and we will work with you to ensure your project is not unnecessarily delayed.
